Bloomsbury Family Home

This beautifully redesigned Grade 2* listed Georgian home in London belonged to Nicola, the founder of our Oxford interior design studio. A space that once housed multiple families over the past 200 years, this Bloomsbury home maintained the history of the building while incorporating a Nicola Mardas Interiors signature layered design to represent Nicola’s personal story.

As a family home, it was essential to create a functional yet elegant space. The kitchen, originally on the first floor, was moved to the ground floor and redesigned in collaboration with Plain English. This transformation opened up the first floor, where two sitting rooms overlooked the Greek Revival caryatids of St Pancras Church.

Bespoke bookcases, painted in a rich terracotta shade to match the nearby brick of a local dance school, added a unique, cultural touch. The house’s narrow layout was connected by a stylish, ribbon-like stair runner, while warm Georgian-inspired colours ran throughout, creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Nicola’s home is a reflection of our design philosophy—bespoke interiors with a focus on creating layered, timeless, and deeply personal spaces.
